Japanese Karuma Nagamochi / Storage Trunk constructed of keyaki wood with fully functional wood wheels. This antique dates to the Meiji-Tokugawa period. We have family in Japan and travel there very often...this was one of our favorite purchases because it's both beautiful and extremely useful. We use it to store clothes and some odds & ends. Perfect for hiding away just about anything--toy chest, wardrobe, small appliances that you don't want to keep out, etc., etc!!! (Super-great if you don't have lots of closet space!!!) These trunks are usually exceptionally large, but this one--while still very roomy--is of a rarer, relatively smaller size. Traditionally, a family in Japan would use these trunks to flee with their possessions in the event of fire, etc.. (In fact, there was a time in the old days when both Tokyo and Kyoto outlawed these because during neighborhood fires, the streets would be clogged with them.) Ours measures 136 cm wide, 66 cm deep, 94 cm tall. Yours for $4,950. This is available to be seen be just about any time or day in Cedar Grove, NJ 07009, which is extremely easy to get to from RT280, RT46, RT3, RT80, RT23, Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, George Washington Bridge, Manhattan, New York City, etc.. (We are near Montclair, NJ, or just a hop away from Willowbrook Mall in the other direction.) Possible to help with delivery depending upon your location.
Thanks for looking, and have a great day!
