Up for sale is a rare solid silver tsuba by Japanese tsuba maker, Akichika, # H00024.0 on Robert Haynes three volume book on Japanese sword fitting artist. Mr. Haynes personally identified this tsuba for me during the August 2011 Northern California Japanese San Francisco Token Kai and please note that solid silver tsubas for most tsuba makers are quite scarce.

Akichika made tsubas during the 1850's of the Edo period and this may have been a special order for a Daimyo, as Akichika is known for his iron tsubas. This particular tsuba has a nicely carved tiger with a vintage tarnished silver patina and gold wash on the tiger's fur.

On the verso is Akichika's signature and on the bottom there are flowers and a rock with clouds above.

Cost is only $2,299.95 USD, and includes shipping/insurance for delivery in the CONUS.

Thanks for looking!
