Mermod Freres 'Ideal Sublime Harmonie' interchangeable cylinder music box by Mermod Freres, circa 1890, includes 4 cylinders, playing eight tunes on each 11 inch long cylinder, with tune selector and indicator, two-piece comb, nickeled movement, Jacot's safety check, centrifugal governor, massive nickel-plated crank-wind motor with speed regulator and trade plaque of Jacot Music Box Co., New York. In heart mahogany case with inlay on paneled lid, carved front and drawer in plinth for three cylinders. Ornate cast iron carry handles on each end. Outside dimensions to include case are 30" wide, 15" deep, and 11" high. This inlaid box is original, in beautiful condition with a small amount of wear in a couple of places, and one very aged corner repair consistent with a 120 year old music box. All cylinders and both of the 39 tooth combs are in perfect condition and the music is perfect. Also included is an original key to lock the top of the music box shut from prying hands. There are no tune cards available. Please see attached pictures as they show all sides of the music box. This is an original, un-restored music box that is mechanically perfect, a truly rare find.
